Sheldon has more than fifty years of experience in the field of accounting. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University in 1956 and a Master of Science in Taxation from Florida International University in 2001. He is a licensed certified public accountant in Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

For many years, Sheldon had his own certified public accounting firm. In 1982, he merged his firm into one of the country’s largest accounting practices, Laventhol and Horwath (L&H). There, as partner, he co-authored a practice manual for the firm, served as an instructor for continuing education, and served on the firm’s quality control task force for many years. When the firm disbanded in 1990, Sheldon again opened his own firm. He has served on the peer review acceptance committees for both the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Sheldon is a life member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, now known as the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA).
